FAQ
Everything people ask before they book.
How many totes do I need?
Our packages are sized by bedroom: 20 totes for a studio, 30 for a one bedroom, 40 for two, 60 for three, 80 for four, and 100 for five or more. If you're between sizes, go bigger. Extra totes are only $5 each and we'd rather you have a few empty ones than run out on packing night.
How long do I get the totes?
Every package includes two full weeks. Most people take delivery about a week before moving day and have us pick up about a week after. Need longer? Add weeks anytime, even mid-rental. The price per extra week is listed on every package.
Do I have to be home for delivery and pickup?
For delivery, yes, someone 18 or older needs to be there to sign. For pickup, just stack the empty totes somewhere we can reach them (garage, porch, or inside the front door) and let us know. You don't have to be there.
Are the totes clean?
Every tote is washed, sanitized, and dried before it goes back on the trailer. They arrive stacked, lidded, and ready to pack. We'd put our own dishes in them, and Patrick has.
What if I lose or damage a tote?
It happens. A lost or damaged tote is $20 and a lost dolly is $60. Normal scuffs, scratches, and label residue are expected and never charged.
Do I need to clean the totes before you pick them up?
No. Just empty them. Give a quick shake to any that held something messy and we'll handle the rest.
What's included in the price?
Delivery and pickup anywhere in our core St. Louis zone, the totes, dollies to roll them around, room labels, zip ties, and two weeks. No fuel surcharges, no taxes added at checkout, no surprises. The only extras are things you choose to add.
Where do you deliver?
St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and most of St. Charles County. Core zone delivery is free. Farther-out areas like Wentzville, Wildwood, Arnold, and the Metro East have a small flat delivery fee that our estimator shows before you book.
Can you move the full totes to my new place too?
That's Tote Transport, our add-on where two of us load the packed totes onto the trailer, drive them to the new place, and stack them where you want. It's priced by package size and listed on the pricing page when it's available in your area. If you don't see it in the estimator yet, tick the interest box and we'll let you know the moment it's live.
Can my movers use these?
Movers love them. Totes stack in tight columns, roll on the dollies, and don't crush. Most moving companies will tell you they'd rather move totes than cardboard any day.
How much can a tote hold?
Each tote is 27 gallons (about 28 by 20 by 15 inches) and comfortably holds 50 pounds. That's a full kitchen cabinet, a drawer of clothes, or about 30 books. Heavy stuff goes in the bottom of the stack.
Can I use them for storage or a long-distance move?
We're a local delivery-and-pickup service for the St. Louis area, so the totes need to stay in the metro. We don't offer storage. If you need totes for longer than a few weeks, just extend the rental.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancel or reschedule for free up to 48 hours before your delivery window. Inside 48 hours there's a $50 fee, because the trailer is already loaded for you.
Is it really cheaper than cardboard?
For most homes, yes. A three-bedroom move typically costs $270 to $400 in boxes, tape, and paper from the hardware store. Our three-bedroom package is $209 and you never have to break anything down or haul it to recycling. Then there's the part where nothing gets crushed.
